A significant part of the care of machinery and facilities in production companies is their proper lubrication. According to the manufacturer's directions, it is necessary to treat the mechanic parts of machines properly with oil, grease or to change their filters. Many machines consume cutting oils, emulsions and washing media during operation. To achieve correct parameters, it is necessary to keep them in good condition by using additives.

When a company disposes of tens or hundreds of machines, it exceeds the human capacities to monitor and keep the lubrication schedule of all machines. It can concern hundreds to thousands executed lubrication tasks monthly depending on the number of machines and their utilised capacity. Such a quantity does not enable to keep reliable records concerning the consumed lubricants and to evaluate them. Insufficient planning, execution and evaluation of machine lubrication result in improper care of the machines which reduces the machine’s lifetime and increases the possibility of a failure. Without the necessary overview of lubricant consumed in the machine, it is not possible to schedule correctly future lubrication costs. A detailed consumption monitoring of a specific machine can reveal an unexpectedly increased lubricant consumption which frequently indicates an incoming machine fault. Its timely revealing can prevent production interruptions and save significant financial resources.

To eliminate all the above stated risks, Yamatec in cooperation with specialist in the field of machine lubrication care developed the Yamatec Oil software application.

Yamatec Oil

The Yamatec Oil application is a program installed on a computer with Windows XP, Vista or 7. Its basic role is to schedule lubrication of machinery and facilities, to monitor the executed tasks and finally to evaluate them. It, furthermore, enables to record and evaluate the performed lubricant measurements (concentration, pH, conductivity, temperature). A significant part of the machine care is the collection of used lubricants, i.e. the wastes. Therefore, you can keep records of the collected wastes in this program. An essential component of the program is the warehouse module, as well, which helps to review the warehouse stock of lubricants and the received and issued quantities.

To execute all these functions, the program contains various kinds of elementary data necessary for its operation.

  • Centres
  • Production lines
  • Lubricants (oils, greases, filters, cutting oils, emulsions, cleaners, additives)
  • Machines and their lubrication rules
  • Company’s working calendar
  • Users
  • Basic types of tasks
  • Warehouse items

Loaded with the basic data, the program can provide following services.

  • Generation of lubrication plans with lubrication tasks
  • Monitoring of execution of planned and unplanned lubrication tasks
  • Evaluation of lubricant consumption during lubrication tasks
  • Recording of measured physical values of lubricants (concentration, pH, conductivity, temperature)
  • Graphic presentation of trends of measured values
  • Recording of lubricant waste collection
  • Evaluation of collected waste quantities
  • Recording of warehouse receipts, issues and inventories
  • Evaluation of received and issued quantities of lubricants to/from the warehouse
  • Generation of a library for important documents (PDF) specifying lubricants and machines, assigning them to particular lubricants and machines for future reference

In addition to these basic functions, the program disposes of several additional useful tools and functions.

  • Automatic program update to the latest version via internet
  • Recording data from the barcode reader for data collection of the executed lubrications, measurements and waste collection (an optional part of Yamatec PocketOil)
  • Local data back-up and recovery in case of a hardware failure
  • Data back-up via internet to safe Yamatec servers (an optional part of Webstorage service)
  • Multilanguage user interface (the program exists in English, Slovak, Czech and Hungarian versions)

An everday task of the user is to print out the lubrication plan for the specific day. It contains the basic information about what to do, i.e. which machine and on which lubrication point the lubrication is to be done, which lubricant is to be used and in what quantity according to the lubrication rule of the machine. The individual lines of the plan represent the lubrication tasks saved in the Yamatec Oil program. Every lubrication task describes one specific lubrication of a specific machine for the given day.

When executing lubrication tasks, the user records the lubrication quantity actually used into the plan, eventually if he uses the barcode reader with the PocketOil program installed, the quantity will be recorded into the reader. After returning to the computer he enters the data of the used quantities into the Yamatec Oil program either by hand or automatically by loading from the reader. Every planned and executed lubrication task will be marked as fulfilled, i.e. it will be displayed with the execution date and the actually used quantity of lubricant.

Of course, not all lubrication tasks the user will execute are planned. It often happens in the practise that a lubricant is to be used in a machine unplanned for various reasons. Naturally, such lubrication tasks can be recorded into the Yamatec Oil program, as well.

By day-to-day recording of data on the executed lubrication tasks into the Yamatec Oil program, we can acquire important data about the lubricant consumption. Therefore, an essential function of the program is the consumption evaluation for a specific period of time, e.g. for a month. The program provides a wide range of print reports that analyse the consumption from various points of view. For example, the total consumption of the company, the consumption of individual centres or the consumption of individual machines. Each report can be printed or sent into the Excel program. The following figure shows an example of one of the print reports sent into Excel. It displays the lubricant consumption of individual machines for a selected time period.

Similarly to planning and evaluation of the lubrication tasks, you can perform and evaluate the measurements of physical properties of lubricants, the waste collection and the warehouse activities. More detailed information about these program modules are stated in the Modules section on these web pages.
