Lubrication activities
The lubrication plans consist of individual lubrication activities. Each activity states exactly, what type of lubrication is to be executed, when, on which machine and its part and which lubricant is to be used. If a company has from tens to hundreds of machines, the lubrication plan can contain monthly hundreds or even thousands of individual planned lubrication activities. Their number depends on how precisely the machine lubrication rules are set. If they contain for each machine only tasks executed once in a longer time period (e.g. oil exchange), there will be a smaller number of planned lubrication activities monthly. If the lubrication rules contain also frequently executed lubrication tasks (e.g. a weekly oil check), the monthly lubrication plan may contain a large number of planned lubrication activities.
The planned lubrication activities that were not executed, i.e. they are not fulfilled, are displayed in black in the list of lubrication activities. The executed and fulfilled planned lubrication activities are displayed in blue. The lubrication date and time and the used lubricant quantity are shown here, as well. If the used quantity differs from the planned quantity, this fact is highlighted by a yellow triangle.
Each single lubrication activity in the list contains detailed information of the planned lubrication and if it is fulfilled, also the data on the lubrication execution.
The following operations can be done with the lubrication activity.
- Confirming that an unfulfilled lubrication activity was executed, i.e. recording the date, the time and the used lubricant quantity.
- Cancelling that an already executed activity was fulfilled, i.e. returning it into the unfulfilled state.
- Cancelling an unconfirmed activity, i.e. marking it as a activity will not be executed for various reasons, even though it is planned.
- Rescheduling an unconfirmed activity, i.e. changing its planned date.
The lubrication activities are divided into two main groups.
- Planned lubrication activities are tasks created by the program during generation of a lubrication plan following the machine lubrication rule and on the basis of the date when the task was executed last on the given machine. For example, if the lubrication rule of a specific machine sets that the oil check is to be done once in 40 hours and the machine works daily for one eight-hour shift from Monday till Friday, then, if the last oil check of this machine was made on Tuesday, the program will plan the following oil exchange for the next week on Tuesday.
- Unplanned lubrication activities are tasks that were not planned, but they had to be done for various reasons. For example, when due to a machine failure a liquid leak occurred, an unplanned lubricant refilling has to be executed.
The difference between a planned and an unplanned activity is that a planned activity has filled data, such as the planned date and the planned lubricant quantity. Unplanned activities have such data empty. When a planned activity is fulfilled or when an unplanned activity is recorded, a warehouse issue of the lubricant used for the lubrication activity is generated automatically. The quantity of the lubricant on the issue will be the same as the quantity of the lubricant used for the lubrication activity. The quantity of the lubricant in the warehouse decreases automatically.
Fulfilling of lubrication activities can be done manually in the Yamatec Oil program. That is the execution date and time and the used lubricant quantity are entered in the specific lubrication activity that was executed. Similarly, the execution of an unplanned lubrication task can be recorded manually. Another possibility of collecting data on executed lubrication activities is to use the barcode reader with the Yamatec PocketOil program. In that case, the operator loads the lubrication point barcode with the reader immediately after the lubrication is executed and enters the used lubricant quantity in the reader. After all lubrications are executed, he returns to the computer, connects the reader and starts loading data in the Yamatec Oil program from the reader to the computer. The program finds the planned activities in the reader and records the date, the time and the used lubricant quantity in the planned activities from the reader. If it finds an unplanned activity in the reader, it creates an unplanned lubrication activity using the data in the reader. This procedure is significantly faster than the manual confirmation of lubrication activities and at the same time it decreases the possibility of errors during the data entry.
By confirming lubrication activities and entering unplanned lubrication activities to the program, we gradually enter information on the quantities of lubricants used during machine lubrication. The Yamatec Oil program contains several print reports summarizing the consumption of lubricants for a selected time period. You can print the list of executed lubrication activities or the total consumed quantities by individual lubricants or total consumed quantities by individual machines, etc. The program contains following reports:
- List of lubrication activities
- Summary of lubrication activities
- Lubricant consumption per machine
- Lubricant consumption by machines
- Consumption of additives
- Water consumption
- Annual development of monthly lubricant consumption per machine
- Development of monthly lubricant consumption per machine
Detailed information on these print reports is stated in the Reporting module description.
