General description of using barcode scanner

Everyday activities in the Yamatec Oil program involve collection and entry of data on executed tasks. That is, what lubrication was executed where, what value of laboratory lubricant test was measured where, what lubricant waste was collected where. Similarly, data on received lubricant quantity to the warehouse and the date on lubricant issues from the warehouse are recorded. All these data are entered in the program manually. When an operator executes a task with a machine or in the warehouse, he enters the required data on paper and after completing the task he rewrites them in the computer. This process is lengthy and the data can be transcribed erroneously. Therefore, there is the Yamatec PocketOil program that can be used together with the Yamatec Oil program. It can be installed in a compatible barcode scanner (e.g. Unitech HT680). At the same time, labels of lubrication points with barcodes are printed in the Yamatec Oil program and they are attached at the respective places on the machines. Thereafter, during a task execution, e.g. during machine lubrication, the operator reads the lubrication point identification immediately after completing the task by means of the barcode scanner and enters the quantity of the used lubricant.

After doing so with all the machines and completing all necessary tasks, the operator returns to the computer and connects the scanner to the computer via a USB cable. He starts the Yamatec Oil program and loads the data on all executed tasks from the barcode scanner. Thereby, the process of entering the collected data is significantly accelerated and the possibility of erroneous entries is decreased.
